X / Twitter username questions
What are X (Twitter) username rules?
X (Twitter) usernames must be 1 to 15 characters long and can only contain letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and underscores (_). No spaces, hyphens, periods, or special characters. The @username is case-insensitive.
Can I change my X (Twitter) username?
Yes. You can change your X username at any time from Settings → Your account → Account information → Username. Unlike TikTok, there is no waiting period between changes.
Is my X (Twitter) username case-sensitive?
No. X treats @YourName and @yourname as the same handle. However, X displays the capitalization you used when you registered, so @YourBrand and @yourbrand point to the same account.
Why does this tool say 'appears available'?
Postlia validates your username against X's format rules only. We cannot check real-time availability, because only X knows which usernames are registered. After validating the format here, open x.com and try to register or search for the handle to confirm it's free.
What is the maximum X (Twitter) username length?
X usernames can be 1 to 15 characters long. Shorter handles (4 to 10 characters) are generally easier to share and remember. Most short handles are already taken, so consider adding numbers or an underscore.
Can I use periods or hyphens in an X username?
No. X only allows letters (a to z), numbers (0 to 9), and underscores (_). Hyphens (-), periods (.), and special characters are not permitted.
